F.P. Engineering was awarded the contract to design, fabricate, transport to location, Third Party Inspection and site supervise the following items that were to be installed in the Maragra Expansion Project in Mozambique 2009/2010.

This project completed in a 6 month period.

The following items were fabricated:

  • 70 M3 Continuous Vacuum Pan
  • 1000 M2 Roberts Type Evaporator
  • Long Tube Evaporator
  • 35 ton Hilo Unloader

Xinavane Expansion Project

F.P. Engineering was awarded the contract to design, fabricate, transport to location, Third Party Inspection and site supervise three 240 cubic meter “A” Crystalliser complete with drive gear boxes that where to be installed in the Xinavane Expansion Project in Mozambique 2008/2009.

The units where 5200mm in diameter and 14 m high, where sent to site as abnormal loads in donnut form. All work done on this project was completed in the workshop.

Nakambala Expansion Project

F.P. Engineering was awarded the contract to design, fabricate and transport to location four feeder tables complete with drive gear boxes that where to be installed in the 9097 Nakambala Expansion Project (NK – 0717) in Zambia 2007/2008.

HALLIBURTON

Twelve mild steel tank, made for export to the Republic of Anglo, were made in 2004. The tanks were 4.6m in diameter and 11 meteres high, with a total volume of 180m3. Inside each tank there was a blower system. The tanks were made in batches of four, then transported to Harbour as abnormal loads, prior to being shipped.

TIPPLER - MAURITIUS

A cane tippler was exported to Forges Tardien, Port Louis, Mauritius in November 2004. The completed unit, including the farming of the 50mm thick ring, was prepared and fabricated in our based workshop. On completion and pre-shipment the complete project was shop assembly and tested, in the presence of Forges Tardien representitives.

STORAGE TANK - PAL PAC

A stainless steel storage tank was fabricated for PAL PAC in Pinetown

ANIMAL FEED PLANT - UCL DALTON

F.P. Engineering have designed, fabricated and installed a new rotary dryer and bagging plant at Dalton UCL. The whole plant has been designed to produce and bag animal feed, consisting of bagacillo and molasses at a ratio of 30/70, at a capacity of 7.8 ton per hour, set out in the guidelines and requirements by UCL Dalton.

The separated Bagacillo is dried by a fluidized bed combuster. The complete plant is fully automated and controlled by a PLC Control Unit.

The animal feed plant consists of the following equipment:

  • Bagasse Feed Conveyor
  • Trommel Shifter
  • Course Bagasse return Slat Conveyor
  • Fine Bagacillo Screw
  • Wet Bagacillo Holding Bin
  • Dryer
  • Fluidized Bed Combuster
  • Cyclones with Ducting
  • Molasses Tank & Frame
  • Plough Mixer
  • Bagging Plant& Roller Conveyors

AIRO CONVEYORS

FP Engineering and Conveyquip have fabricated and installed airo conveyors at Maidstone Sugar Mill to move bagacillo for Sappi.

Conveyquip had designed the conveyors, with their upgraded design with the overall project being controlled by them.

POLLUTION CONTROL
KWAMASHU WASTE WATER - ETHEKWINI WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT

Due to the environmental concerns of the community and the Ethekwini Municipality, a new concept in pollution control is being initiated, to provide an efficient air pollution control system at Kwamashu Waste Water - Solid Waste Plant.

FP Engineering (agent for CTP) and C.T.P. Austria are installing a revolutionary new pollution control system. Using leading technology C.T.P produces a high quality efficient and cost saving method for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOC), hazardous air pollutant, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and organic particular matter from all major industrial sources.

The RTO's - Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers - are designed to cope with fluctuating flows and concentrations of raw gas at a lower operating cost than thermal recuperative oxidizers. The use of prismatic ceramic honey combed in the heat exchanger enlarges the heat exchanger area three and a half times with the pressure drop in the autotherm remaining very low.

The new system has many advantages in the environmental friendly South Africa:

  • Low Running Cost
  • High Turmoil Efficiency
  • Low Pressure Drop
  • Removal of all Odours
  • Incentive to Corrosive Compounds
  • Low Maintenance
  • Compact System
  • Total Automated

New Generation of compact multi-bed RTO's

  • Very high destruction efficiency (>99.9 %)
  • Low Pressure Drop (17 to 29 mbar)
  • High Thermal Efficiency (> 97 %)
  • Simple System consisting of separated inlet and outlet regenerative heat exchangers ensuring gas tightness and spanned by a single combustion chamber which guarantees perfect mixing and minimal radiation loss.
  • Reliable, quick acting, impervious poppet valves which boast countless hours of fail-safe operation owed to CTP's smart and durable design
  • Weatherproof instrumentation and heating system
  • CTP's hot bypass caters for a wide range of solvent concentrations and can rapidly adapt to varying inlet conditions (flow fluctuations, concentration peaks)
  • CTP's bake-out procedure eliminates particulate build-up and through its ability to adjust duration and temperature has proved its effectiveness in many challenging applications
  • Advanced and enhanced heating technology featuring 3 options:
burner / electrical heater / direct fuel injector
